Identity design and visual system for the first retail store in Malaysia, at TRX, Kuala Lumpur.

Process

The brief was simple: the opening of Apple's first retail store in Malaysia had to feel like a welcome, not a product announcement. The Exchange TRX is a flagship in a new district, and the store had to anchor it.

So the building led the way. Its layered, glowing roof was already doing the work of a beacon, and the identity just extends that logic out, warm tones, light treated as material, and a custom typographic system built from the same concentric forms. The letters echo the architecture. The architecture echoes the letters. Applied across posters, tote bags, media passes, and packaging, the system held without ever feeling repeated.

At the centre sat the campaign line: Jom Malaysia. Jom is one of those Malay words that doesn't quite translate, something between "let's go" and "join us," but warmer, the way friends invite each other out for kopi. Put on pre-launch hoardings, it turned a construction barrier into an open door. The line worked because it didn't translate.

A presence in Malaysia that feels rooted, not imported.
